Duration: 6 hrs in person workshop + 2 hrs follow-up online-live (visiting a company as part of the experience is a valuable extra option)
This workshop aims to support international students in understanding and adapting to the cultural dynamics of the German workplace. Whilst cultural differences exists, it is also corporate and team culture that influences communication, collaboration, and integration within an organisation. This session will provide valuable insights into German corporate culture and work ethics, allowing participants to understand the expectations and practices that influence day-to-day operations in German organizations.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the key aspects of German corporate culture, including work-life balance, punctuality, and formal communication styles.
- Learn about the importance of hierarchy and structure in the German workplace, and how to effectively navigate team roles and responsibilities.
- Learn ways to understand corporate and team culture and learn to navigate them
- Gain practical tips for adjusting to team collaboration in Germany, with a focus on decision-making, feedback, and conflict resolution.
- Discuss cultural differences in workplace behavior and identify strategies for overcoming challenges and building positive relationships in a German work environment.
By the end of the workshop, participants will have a deeper understanding of how to adapt to and thrive in the unique corporate and team culture of Germany, enhancing their academic and professional experiences.

Für einen erfolgreichen Studienverlauf und auch erste Erfahrungen mit der deutschen Kultur, ist Kommunikation essentiell. Professionelle Kommunikation braucht nicht nur Sprache, sondern auch Selbstreflexion, Umgang mit Gefühlen, Selbstbewusstsein und Zielorientierung. Dahinter stecken jede Menge Soft-Skills, die gelernt und geübt werden können.
Dieser Kurzworkshop gibt dafür die ersten Impulse, um alltägliche und besonders wichtige Gespräche erfolgreicher zu meistern.

Your facilitator
Manuel Löffler is a team development and leadership consultant. He works with individuals and groups to make sure they don’t waste time, resources or people’s potential.
Born in Germany, he studied and worked abroad and worked from small businesses, NGOs, universities to big corporates.
He has a background in environmental sciences, circular economy, application counselling, human resources and organizational development.
He makes every training fun and moves it into the learning zone, with a mix of kindness and straightforwardness.
